River Trekking & Archery on the Melivia Trail with Lunch in the Forest
Activity Description
An experience of exceptional beauty on the Melivia trail, alongside the lush green Kissavos stream, with three wonderful activities: hiking, river trekking, and archery!
A green route "in the footsteps of Philoktetes," the mythical king and hero of the Trojan War.
Starting from Athanati (the old name of the village of Melivoia), where time has left untouched the colors, landscapes, people, and traditions. A stop at the square will probably give us the opportunity to find Barba-Yiannis and have him show us around the museum with the castle's findings, but we will definitely enjoy the view and the tea of Kissavos before we enter the trail.
Watching out for the "Tzoes"... we will begin to descend on a fairytale path with lush vegetation, always next to the stream, which has a special charm in every season. The wooden bridges, the waterfall, the lake, the chestnut trees, and the shepherds we will meet compose a unique puzzle of sensations.
We will "stumble" upon the rock under which the monk's hermitage remains well hidden, we will discover the natural frame for a souvenir photo, learn the legend of the dog and cat trail, and encounter the Mill—an amateur but ingenious attempt at energy production.
After about two and a half hours of walking downhill, at the end of the route we will have the opportunity to try archery, measuring our accuracy like modern Philoktetes, before the experience ends with an authentic "Lunch in the Forest."
The meal is prepared especially for the group, in the natural landscape, and includes:
- Handmade pie
- Seasonal salad
- Wild boar
- Roasted potatoes
- Wine from a local winery
A limited-seating program that combines nature, history, activity, and flavor—a premium, alternative version of this route.
