Activity Description
The walk starts in the small mountain village of Agia Marina, set beside a fresh-water ravine on the slopes of Mount Zas. A short stone-paved uphill section leads into cool, shaded woodland with oak and maple trees, creating a calm and refreshing start to the hike.
One of the highlights is the fortified monastery of Fotodotis Christos, offering beautiful views over eastern Naxos and the sea. Inside the restored church, visitors can see remains of an early Christian basilica and 11th-century wall paintings. The trail then continues through green countryside to Karkos, where a side path leads toward Apeiranthos, marking the final point of the walk.
The experience ends in Apeiranthos, one of the most distinctive villages of Naxos, known for its stone-built houses, marble-paved alleys, traditional cafés, and strong local character. Here, guests can enjoy free time to explore the village and, if they wish, stop for lunch at a local taverna.
